Street Level Plan - Draft

Move vertical circulation elements (stair & elevators) to the street front of the buildings
~express motion from within
~create interaction between people in buildings and on street/sidewalk.
Public spaces of program (entrances & commons) adjacent to the street
~keep buildings street front active and engaging.
Circulation paths dictate location of grass lounge areas on grade.
Recess street front building face of the restaurant
~allow for street side dining
Locate private spaces in the rear of the building; storage, offices, etc.
Locate kitchen along side of restaurant to face dining area;
~open view through kitchen; create ener-action
~separate entry directly into kitchen for deliveries
Use existing adjacency to parking garage
~encorporate an entry from garage into commons area
Locate Genius Bar to the rear
~circulate service customers throughout the store
~maintain adjacency to rear storage/work room
Locate kid's area opposite of the restaurant; keep secluded

Kate,
There are a lot of good ideas the plans: double- height spaces, flow between programs (open plan), street dining, activation of street facades and they all go together nicely.

Some minor comments:
- the stair could be shaped differently when it's exposed: you could add steps to side towards the green area and insert a generous landing to make it less intimidating in terms of fronal height. Play with it a bit to engage the lower level and ener act with it.

- the elevator in the lobby right at the facade might be better in the back, or if you really want to engage the public space, express it as a volume - it might take you all the way up to the roof level, where you could have a roof garden or some sort of destination.

- The double height spaces have a great potential: next week we'll focus on sections and you'll have the opportunity to study them( light, program on upper edges, adding stairs, etc).

Nice job!
